Syma S107 Remote Control Helicopter
I have to be honest and say I did not buy the Syma s107 remote control helicopter for the children. I decided to buy it for myself. And why not? Boys toys and all that. Okay, the kids “think” it is theirs, but to be honest, when it comes to writing about toys, sometimes you want to write about something that you assume you are going to love before you even get it!
And I did.
Available at a very low price online, the Syma S107 helicopter makes the perfect gift for any child (young or old) that likes a little bit of excitement and “daring-do” when it comes to play.time.
Syma S107 Price
Firstly, this was one thing that really caught my eye. Hunting around online most stores have it available very cheaply, Amazon slightly leading the way. For a remote control helicopter that can do some amazing things (which we will see shortly) I would expect it to be a lot more expensive.
Flying The Syma S107
With 2 rotors and 3 channels this is an incredibly stable machine. Although called a toy it really is a proper machine, that can be flown pretty much flawlessly after a little practice. But the great thing is that as soon as it is out of the box all children will be able to fly it to some degree straight away.
The controls are simple yet effective and unlike the older 105 model this version will not spin out and can be flown up, down, sideways and even backwards.
Pretty Impressive stuff!
Colors
The Syma S107 colors seem to be pretty limited, red and yellow being the main options, plus blue, this may well change at some point and I don’t really see this as an issue, if I am to be honest.
Play-Time
Syma S107 Video
We have two options for charging the helicopter. Batteries or a usb cable that allows for continuous play but is tied to a cable so limits range.
If you charge the batteries then you get about 12-15 minutes, maybe a little longer. But this does take half an hour or so. My advice? Buy an extra set of batteries to have on stand-by. Although it is still fun simply using the usb cable while the batteries are being charged up.
Syma S107 Reviews
I am very positive here in my Syma S107 review, but what does that count for? What do others think? Well, on Amazon you will find over 1500 reviews from customers which average out at 4 out of 5 stars. I can tell you from past experience that that is pretty impressive. It certainly beats nearly all other toys when you are talking abut reviews on that kind of scale.
Features
I won’t get into the technical side of things, I wouldn’t know what I was talking about anyway! But I can tell you the following:
- Weight is 34 grams
- Range is 10 m or 30 feet
- Flexible rotors, so not prone to breaking
- But replacement parts are easily available
- Very well balanced thanks to the latest technology
Although I have seen no signs of it breaking, even with a few crashes, more because of me than the children, parts are easily available for a few dollars so it won’t be the end of the world. The main thing is that this is a very high-tech and fun gadget for a very low price.
If you want to buy the Syma S107 then I think you have made a great choice. I feel very positive about this toy and I see it as one of those items that is going to be around for many years to come.
Negatives
The only downside is the amount of time you can fly it after the batteries are charged. But it is a small price to pay for such a great toy really. You can always either buy two or a spare set of batteries. Personally I would prefer to have two, but that is kind of a luxury that is not really needed.
If you want something unique and sure to bring delight to the children, and the adults if I am honest, then the Syma S107 helicopter is a “must buy” toy this year.
Cheers
Taylor
